Joe Rogan’s Kale Shakes
Joe Rogan’s Kale Shakes

Joe Rogan is famous for several things, the Fear Factor Host, martial arts, and most significantly, as a stand-up comedian.

Rogan puts a funny twist on all sorts of topics, from marriage to politics. In 2015, his podcast was listened to over 16 million times per month, one of the most popular free podcasts.

If you have listened to his podcast by any chance, you might have heard him talking about his kale juice recipes.

Rogan started making juices back in 2011. He recognized it was the best way to eat all your daily vitamins and nutrients in just one drink.

He firmly believes breakfast is the most important meal to start his day with one of his freshly made juices.

Joe Rogan’s Kale Shakes

As you can imagine, each juice recipe has a generous amount of Kale. Kale is very low in calories, but at the same time, it has high amounts of magnesium, iron, and calcium.

It is also packed with vitamins K, A, and C. Another health benefit is that it is high in fiber. Drinking the juice will fill you up as if you had eaten a typical breakfast.

We wouldn’t suggest that you need to rush out and buy a new blender for any of these recipes. Rogan uses the Blendtec Designer 625 Blender.

Any high-speed blender you have will do the job, but this is a good option if you are looking for a new one.

Rogan also recommends the Ninja blender as a cheaper option. Whichever blender you choose to buy, make sure it is high-speed.

A low-speed blender might not have the power to turn the fruit and vegetables into the right liquid consistency. Lumpy juice is never pleasant!

It is better that you use a blender rather than a juicer. A juicer works by squeezing out all of the juice from fruit and vegetables.

You still get many vitamins and nutrients, but much of the fiber is left behind in the pulp.

A blender will mix everything, leaving in the maximum amount of health benefits.

Let’s take a closer look at each of Joe Rogan’s kale recipes.

Kale has quite a robust earthy taste, so the paired ingredients balance the flavors.

Joe Rogan’s Original Kale Shake

Ingredients:

  • Four large kale leaves
  • Four celery stalks
  • One cucumber
  • 1 “pager-sized” chunk of ginger root
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • 4 good-sized slices of pineapple or 1 pear

Celery is excellent in any juice because it is mainly water. It will help provide smoother juice. The cucumber adds a nice zing to the recipe. Either pineapple or pear will bring out a sweetness in the flavor.

The two key ingredients here are ginger and garlic. Both are powerful, so it is worth playing with the amount, particularly the garlic. Perhaps try two cloves before you go all out with four.

If the juice is too thick, you can add some water. A cup should be enough, but it depends on your preference.

Joe Rogan’s Infamous Hulk Loads of Kale Shake:

Ingredients:

  • One large-sized clump of Kale
  • Three celery stalks
  • 1 cucumber
  • 1 “car key fob” sized chunk of ginger root
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • 1 apple

As you can see, Rogan has played a little with some of the ingredients. He replaced the pineapple/pear with an apple.

Depending on the type, apples are generally not as sweet as pears. However, there is one less celery stalk, so you might be more tempted to add some water.

We do love how Rogan measures his ginger!

There is a little bit less ginger, so you will probably notice less heat.

The same goes for the garlic as before. If you feel it is too much, add 2 or 3 cloves.

Joe Rogan’s Angry Hulk Loads Kale Shake

Ingredients:

  • 4 large kale leaves
  • 4 celery stalks
  • 1 cucumber
  • One golf ball-sized chunk of ginger root
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • 1 apple
  • 1/3 beet
  • Four tablespoons of extra virgin coconut oil

The main difference with the angry kale shake is that it has 4 celery stalks, like the original recipe, and Rogan added beetroot.

Beets have improved athletic ability and nutritional benefits like Vitamin C, fiber, and folate.

We all know that beets tend to stain things red, so naturally, it will turn the juice red, hence the name ‘angry.’

It is interesting to learn that coconut oil helps the body absorb vitamins and minerals.

Joe Rogan’s Hulking Kale Shake:

Ingredients:

  • 4 large kale leaves
  • 4 celery stalks
  • 1 cucumber
  • 1 thumb-sized chunk of garlic root
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • ¼ pineapple
  • 4 tablespoons of Extra Virgin coconut oil
  • 16oz of water or coconut water

The Hulking recipe takes all of Rogan’s favorite parts of his other three recipes. The pineapple is back with quite a bit less ginger.

Rogan only adds three cloves of garlic but does add coconut oil and water or coconut water. This will give the juice an exotic taste as well as more liquidy.

While you can play around with the quantity of the ingredients, to get the maximum health benefits from one of Rogan’s Kale Shakes, you should try to add all of them.

Cucumber is very low in calories and high in vitamins, potassium, and magnesium.

Ginger is a great spice to reduce nausea, improve appetite, and help relieve muscle pain. Garlic is also very low in calories and high in manganese and vitamin B6.

It can help prevent all sorts of illnesses and diseases, from the common cold to Alzheimer’s.

ADR. Rhonda has been on Joe Rogan’s podcast as they share an interest in health and nutrition. However, Dr. Rhonda’s interest goes a little further as she has a PDH in biochemistry. Another recipe we would like to look at is Dr. Rhonda’s kale-based juice.

Her studies have focused on the effects of vitamins and minerals on metabolism, inflammation, and aging.

Considering her level of expertise, we thought her juice deserved mention.

Joe Rogan is a well-known comedian, commentator, and radio show host. Recently, he published a cookbook called “Joe Rogan: How to Eat Like a Human,” which includes recipes for things like kale shakes.

This article will discuss one kale shake recipe from the cookbook – the Joe Rogan banana shake.
